Baker
Shokupan would be nothing without the bread itself, and we are looking for someone to take ownership of bread production, as well as our other sweet baked goods. Its currently a small operation, but we would like to expand and experiment with more products, inspired by asian bakeries from around the world.
This position offers a lot of flexibility and ownership, and would suit someone who is excited by the prospect of becoming a key member in a fast growing small business. So if that is you, please get in touch :)
Key Responsibilities
Baking Shokupan bread to a consistently high standard.
Baking sweet baked goods for daily service.
Assisting with recipe development, testing, and refinement.
Managing prep and production schedules.
Maintaining a clean, organised, and food-safe kitchen environment.
Monitoring stock levels and assisting with ordering and waste control.
Person Specification
Essential
A strong interest in baking and food.
Experience working as a baker or chef in a professional environment.
Experience baking bread and other bakery items.
Food Hygiene and Safety Level 2 Certificate.
Good organisational and time management skills.
Attention to detail and consistency.
An ability to work collaboratively within a small team.
Desirable
Experience baking shokupan bread, or similar enriched doughs or milk breads.
Interest and/or experience in Asian specific recipes including: Melonpan, Shiopan, and matcha, ube, or pandan flavoured products.
Hours
Flexible on hours depending on the candidate

Chef
Shokupan is all about food we love, made with love. And none of that can happen without our hardworking kitchen staff.
As well as developing recipes and specials for our existing sandos, we are looking for an experienced chef to help us expand and develop our food offering for an evening menu. We would be lying if we said we knew exactly what this will look like, and we would like someone to help us define that vision.
So if you are passionate about southeast asian cuisine, and would like an opportunity to build an evening concept on top of an existing lunch service, we would love to talk!
Key Responsibilities
Daily kitchen prep for sandwich ingredients, as well as evening service
Menu development, experimentation, and refinement
Stock management, keeping kitchen operations in order, and improving processes
Keeping a clean, tidy kitchen to a high standard
A passion for food, and a desire to create something that people will love!
Person Specification
Essential
Professional experience in a kitchen role, or equivalent demonstrable experience
Basic familiarity with sandwich concepts, and an interest in asian cuisines
Experience developing new dishes, testing recipes and putting them into production
Food Hygiene and Safety Level 2 Certificate
Attention to detail and consistency
An ability to work collaboratively within a small team
Desirable
Experience or interest in content creation and marketing
Specific menu experience in southeast asian cuisines
Experience or interest in cocktail / drinks recipes
Hours
Hours are flexible according to the candidate, but likely 30-40h a week
