Front of House (Part Time)

We're seeking a friendly and enthusiastic Front of House team member to join our opening team. This role combines excellent customer service, barista duties, and sandwich assembly.

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing a warm, friendly and professional service, creating an excellent first impression for our customers and making them feel valued and welcome.

  • Taking orders and handling payments with accuracy.

  • Barista duties: Making coffee and beverages to a consistently high standard.

  • Sandwich assembly: assembling sandwiches with care and consistency.

  • Maintaining cleanliness and organisation of the FOH work stations.

  • Carrying out opening and closing duties as required.

  • Working as part of a small team to ensure smooth daily operations.

Person Specification

Essential

  • Experience in a customer-facing role, working in a cafe or restaurant.

  • Barista experience - proficient at using a coffee machine and making high quality espresso based drinks.

  • A strong attention to detail.

  • An ability to work cohesively within a small team and be proactive.

  • Clear and effective communication skills.

  • A clean and tidy working approach.

Desirable

  • A keen interest in food and coffee.

  • Food Hygiene and Safety Level 2 Certificate - this will be completed during the induction if you do not already have one.

  • 1 year’s experience in a customer facing hospitality role.

  • 1 year’s experience as a barista.

  • Experience or interest in content creation and marketing.

Hours

  • 20 hours per week - hours are flexible depending on the candidates availability.

  • Hours between 9am-5pm

  • A combination of weekdays and weekends; we will be closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.

Kitchen (Part Time)

We’re seeking a kitchen team member to bake and cook the core components of our sandwiches and be responsible for running the kitchen operations smoothly.

Key Responsibilities

  • Baking shokupan bread to a consistently high standard. 

  • Baking sweet baked goods for daily service. 

  • Preparing sandwich fillings and components with attention to flavour, texture, and presentation.

  • Assisting with recipe development, testing, and refinement.

  • Managing prep and production schedules.

  • Maintaining a clean, organised, and food-safe kitchen environment.

Monitoring stock levels and assisting with ordering and waste control.

Person Specification

Essential

  • A strong interest in baking and food.

  • Experience working as a chef or baker in a professional environment.

  • Experience baking bread and other bakery items.

  • Food Hygiene and Safety Level 2 Certificate.

  • Good organisational and time management skills.

  • Attention to detail and consistency.

  • An ability to work collaboratively within a small team.

Desirable

  • Experience baking shokupan bread or similar enriched breads.

  • Experience or interest in creating social media content.

Hours

  • 8-16 hours per week - hours are flexible depending on the candidates availability.

Social Media Manager

(Freelance)

We’re looking for a freelance Social Media Manager to work with us from the early stages of the business, through to the launch, and into our day-to-day operations. You’ll help shape how Shokupan is presented visually and tonally, helping to build an online presence and express our brand identity through creative and engaging content.

Key Responsibilities

  • Creating photo and video content for social media and digital channels.

  • Capturing behind-the-scenes moments, pre-opening progress, and daily café life.

  • Styling and shooting food, drinks, and interiors in a way that reflects the brand.

  • Editing content for platforms such as Instagram (feed, stories, reels)

  • Engaging online and networking with other local businesses and influencers.

  • Working with the team to plan content around key moments (launch, menu changes, events).

  • Maintaining a consistent visual and tonal approach across content.

Person Specification

  • Experience creating content for food and hospitality businesses.

  • A strong visual eye and attention to detail.

  • An ability to shoot and edit both photo and video content.

  • An ability to work independently while collaborating with the team.

  • An interest in food, coffee, and small independent businesses

  • Reliable, organised, and clear communication.
